Limerick Institute of Technology and the WeCreate Enterprise Centre have created this programme to provide students with the opportunity to gain technical skills in electronics and embedded systems and combine these with business, innovation and digital manufacturing knowledge.

These exciting new skills and understanding are then combined to develop a prototype product that will be produced using the digital fabrication equipment located at the WeCreate Workspace and FabLab in Cloughjordan.

Digital manufacturing systems allow manufacturing engineers and product designers (and anyone) to define the complete fabrication process in a ‘virtual environment’. Many companies are pursuing an aggressive digital manufacturing strategy as it allows them to achieve their time-to-market and volume goals. Other advantages include more sustainable use of resources as well as energy and cost savings by reducing expensive downstream changes.
